Volunteer Opportunities

Share Your Passion for the Taft with the Community

There are many ways to get involved! From departmental support to gallery education, opportunities await.

Support Volunteers

Support Volunteers help throughout the museum, spreading their enthusiasm throughout everything they do! No prior experience is necessary—just an interest in the activities and programs the museum offers.

Opportunities Include:
  • Special events assistance (weekends and evenings)
  • Guest and member services (weekdays and weekends)
  • Office assistance (weekdays)
  • Research (weekdays, when positions are available)

Support Volunteers commit to serving at least 6 hours a month. Onboarding for new Support Volunteers occurs once in the fall and once in the spring. Onboarding sessions are 3 hours and typically occur on Tuesday mornings.

Volunteer Educators

Volunteer Educators support museum programming by facilitating engaging gallery experiences for museum guests, assisting with artmaking projects, and helping with outreach programs. No prior experience is required, but comfort speaking in front of groups and a desire to learn about art and history is essential.

Opportunities Include:
  • Leading school experiences in the museum for students in grades PK-12 (weekdays)
  • Leading tours of special exhibitions and the museum’s collection for adult groups (weekdays and weekends)
  • Facilitating artmaking projects for youth and family groups both in the museum and at partner locations (weekdays and weekends)

Onboarding for new Volunteer Educators occurs over 10-12 weeks every fall. Onboarding sessions are 2 hours long on Tuesday mornings.
