Museum Experiences for Groups

Explore the rich history of the Taft historic house, discover unique special exhibitions, and enjoy the museum’s campus in an experience tailored for your group. Please note that the Taft historic house is temporarily inaccessible.


Adult Tours

Guided group tours for adults and seniors require a minimum of 10 visitors and cover both the tour and admission fee.

Docent-Led Group Tours

Docents are volunteer educators who lead public tours of the Museum’s collection. Docent-led group tours are available to groups of 10 or more. Tours last 45–60 minutes; topics include highlights of the collection or the current special exhibition (additional admission may apply). At least 4 weeks' notice is required.

Self-Guided Tours

A group consists of 10 or more people arriving at the museum together to view the galleries on their own, without a tour guide. 


Cancellation Policy: If you must cancel either your docent-led or self-led group tour, please contact us as soon as possible. Cancellation up to one week prior to the date of the scheduled tour is eligible for a full refund. Cancellation made the week of the group tour is eligible for a refund of half of your original payment. No refunds will be given if tour should be canceled within 24 hours of the tour's date and time.

School Tours

Free Field Trips and Special Exhibition Experiences 

The Taft Museum of Art welcomes hundreds of students to the museum each year, we look forward to hosting your class. Tours for school groups use works of art in the Taft’s collection and exhibitions to create a forum for ideas, debate, and exchange. To learn more about our school field trip offerings, click here.

Planning Your Visit:

  • All field trips are around 90 minutes of activity but it is recommended to plan for 2-hour trip to account for time loading/unloading, bathrooms breaks, etc. 
  • Tours are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. 
  • The Taft can accommodate groups up to 60 students 
  • The Taft requires 1 chaperone per every 10 students. Chaperones and teachers are expected to participate in the field trip helping guide students through the tour and art-making along with Taft staff.
  • Students may bring a bag lunch to enjoy outside in our courtyard or across the street in Lytle Park (weather permitting)  
  • Students should plan to leave backpacks on the bus. If a backpack is medically necessary, it can be brought in and is subject to inspection. 
  • All tours include a hands-on art-making experience which can sometimes be messy. Students should dress accordingly.
  • Coats and lunches can be left on the bus or can be stored on-site and distributed back to the students following the field trip. Students can enjoy lunch in our courtyard or across the street in Lytle Park. Prior notice must be given to eat in our courtyard. Lytle Park has a few small tables and benches and plenty of green space for a picnic lunch. There is also a playground at Lytle Park.

Busing information: Busing assistance is offered to schools with 50% of students receiving free and reduced lunch and within the 275-loop. Contact or call (513) 684-4515 for more information. 

Cancellation Policy: We understand plans can change. Please try to give 48 hours' notice if you are unable to attend your tour.

Please note: Reservations should be made at least 4 weeks in advance, payment in full is needed at the time of scheduling, and the Taft’s driveway cannot accommodate large buses.
