Taft Jr. welcomes visitors 3 to 5 years old, along with their caregivers, on the first Thursday of each month from September through May. Taft Jr. allows preschoolers to have fun learning about and making art with their favorite adults while absorbing good museum manners. Each program will feature a story time, a close-up encounter with a piece of art, and a craft.
Free for Taft members; $10 non-members in advance (includes Museum admission), $12 day of program; children free.
Information and registration: firstname.lastname@example.org or (513) 684-4517.
Start your holiday fun at the Taft. Enjoy a holiday story, make an ornament, and explore the toys and decorations of the Taft’s Antique Christmas display.
Art can be made out of anything—even things you use every day! Hear a story about the things a mouse finds on his first day of school, learn about still lifes and how to use everyday objects to make one, and practice your new skills by arranging your own still life. (Adults are encouraged to bring a camera to capture their child’s work of art.)
Practice learning the parts of the home at the Taft’s historic house. Hear a story about a pair of birds searching for the perfect house, figure out which part of the house each room of the Taft used to be, and make your own paper bag house.
Did you know you can make cool art with water? Make your own colorful waterfall painting, find the different bodies of water in the Taft’s art collection, and hear a story about a cat’s first time playing in water.
Spring is in the air at the Taft! Hear a story about the life of a tree, look for the different kinds of plant life in a painting, and create a nature artwork in the Taft’s garden.
