Volunteer Opportunities

The Taft Museum of Art offers numerous opportunities for you to help in maintaining one of our country's finest art collections. Along with having passion for the Taft Museum of Art and its collections, the only prerequisite to being a volunteer is that you must be a member. Docents
The Taft Museum of Art is looking for volunteers to join the ranks of its highly skilled and trained docents. Responsibilities of docents include:

  • Conducting general and specialized tours of the collection
  • Participating in the Galleries-on-the-Go program
  • Serving as a gallery guide for walk-in museum visitors
  • Participating in outreach programs for junior high, high school, and disabled audiences

Museum Shop Volunteers
Museum Shop volunteers sell merchandise, take admissions, and assist visitors as needed. They may also provide occasional clerical support. A commitment of at least two half days per month is requested, and prior retail experience is helpful.

Greeters
Museum greeters welcome visitors and provide general information and assistance. A commitment of at least two half days per month is requested.

Interns
The Taft Museum of Art considers applicants for unpaid internships in many departments, including but not limited to education, public relations, community outreach, curatorial, administration, membership, registration, and collections care. Applicants should demonstrate a serious interest in exploring a career in the museum field. Academic credit can be negotiated.
