Summer Art Day Camp

Children can explore their creative side this summer at the Taft Museum of Art. Each week offers fun, intensive studios looking at, thinking about, and creating art inspired by the special exhibition TruthBeauty: Pictoralism and the Photograph as Art, 1845-1945. Campers will discover works of art through gallery tours and engage in hands-on art activities. The week culminates with an exhibition organized by campers and staff for family and friends.

Instruction is provided by professional art teachers assisted by Museum staff and interns from local university art education programs. Grade school students will learn about classic and contemporary photographers, work with a digital camera and computer to print your photos, and work in a variety of media to explore positive and negative space. Middle school students will work with a variety of techniques including photography, shadow painting, pen and ink on vessels, book-making, and masks.
