Concept: Students will study the style of impressionism through the work of artists Francis Picabia and Felix Ziem. Both artists painted buildings at different times of day, creating a new picture each time because of the way light affected the color of the buildings.

Secondary Level
Concept: Realism was an art movement that sought to invest artistic expression and technique with scientific factual information and observation, rather than idealism. This new philosophical approach to art required that artistic inspiration come from acute observations of everyday life experiences.
