Girl Scout Programs
Fulfill requirements for Girl Scout badges and Brownie Try Its!. Available from November, 2009 through May, 2010. Programs are scheduled based on availability of dates.

Art in 3D (badge). Height, width, and depth are the three dimensions (or 3D) in sculpture, relief, pottery, mobiles, origami, and similar forms of art. Look at 3D pieces in the Taft Museum's collection and create different examples of art you can feel.
Art to Wear (badge and Try It!). Take a look at the portraits in the Taft Museum's collection to see what kind of clothing was popular back in the day. Then make your own fashion statement by decorating clothing and creating accessories. Building Art (badge and Try It!). Learn basics of architectural design and explore the neighborhood around the Taft Museum to see different examples of styles and materials. Work as a team to design a neighborhood. Drawing and Painting (badge). Discover different kinds of painting in the Taft Museum's collection. Learn about color basics and use pencil, pastels, and paint to create your own art. Listening to the Past (Try It!). Learn about the families who lived in the house that became the Taft Museum and about Annie Sinton Taft, who helped found the Cincinnati Zoo, the Cincinnati Symphony, and with her husband Charles Taft, gave their home and their art to the people of Cincinnati. Local Lore (badge). Learn about the families who lived in the house that became the Taft Museum of Art. Look at photos and maps to see how the downtown neighborhood has changed. Come up with strategies to promote preservation in your neighborhood. |
