Music Programs

Museum founders Anna and Charles Taft were devoted supporters of music in the community. The Taft Museum of Art continues that tradition with a variety of concerts throughout the year, including the Chamber Music Series, the Fall Jazz Series, and Taft Sessions. Most concerts are free and open to the public. Join us!

Hot Music—Cold Treats
Sunday, August 29, 1–3 p.m.

Continuing the old-fashioned tradition of a neighborhood band concert and ice cream social, the Taft Museum of Art invites you to enjoy a late-summer treat on the Museum's front lawn. The United Dairy Farmers Little Dipper vintage ice cream truck will pull into the driveway to serve free cups of Homemade Brand Ice Cream.

Drums for Peace will bring their message of harmony along with foot-tapping tunes and great stories accompanied by a few of the world's percussive instruments. A group of musicians, singers, craftspeople, teachers, and storytellers, Drums for Peace expresses and promotes multicultural traditions and values of the people of the Middle East through story, song, and audience participation. Limited seating is available, or you may bring a blanket to spread on the lawn.

Chamber Music Network of Greater Cincinnati (which includes the Taft Museum of Art) presents a festival of free chamber music at the Cincinnati Art Museum to showcase the myriad talents of the region's musicians, from traditional string and wind ensembles to jazz, with some surprises along the way.

Informal mini-concerts continue throughout the afternoon along with the musical instrument "petting zoo" and a scavenger hunt to explore the "musical" art at the Cincinnati Art Museum.
