Spend the day at the Taft experiencing a variety of FREE activities as part of the ArtsWave Sampler sponsored by Macy’s. Everyone will enjoy free admission, hands-on-art, performances, and a variety of self-guided tours.
It is a great opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to connect with one another and experience the arts.
11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – Asian Arts Heritage, Inc: Traditional Indian Dances
Mini-Asian culture festival with dance performances from this local school.
12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. – utsavastu: A Celebration of Sacred Spaces
Draw mandalas using colored pencils and markers with stencils or free form on paper. Drawing your own mandala is a symbol, a reflection, of who you were when you created it.
1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Yayoi Renfro: Japanese Songs and Traditional Dance
Local performer Yayoi Renfro performs a range of Japanese songs, from traditional national songs to minyo (Japanese folk songs originated from each local area). Many songs will incorporate Japanese dance, including umbrellas, fans, and timberline, as well as traditional Bon dances.
2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. – UC: CCM Asian musicians

3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – NrityArpana Indian Dance: Journey to India
Experience India through cultural activities and performances by students and patrons of NrityArpana School of Performing Arts.
