Art of Bonsai
Sunday, October 21, 12–4 p.m.
Bonsai, which originated in China centuries ago, is revealed in an artistic display of stylized miniature trees from the Bonsai Society of Greater Cincinnati. Bonsai are shaped to reflect age, naturalness, and simplicity, the same values that can be observed in the Chinese porcelain objects in the Taft collection. Members of the Bonsai Society will be on hand to answer questions, offer tours, and demonstrate this ancient art form. Visitors may also learn about objects for a Chinese scholar’s desk, follow a scholar’s trail through the Chinese collection, and make a torn-paper bonsai greeting card. Bonsai coloring pages will be available for the smallest bonsai lovers.
