During the annual Macy’s Arts Sampler, all events are free and open to the public thanks to the generous sponsorship of Macy’s. Macy’s Arts Sampler, presented by ArtsWave, celebrates the creative things —theater, dance, museums, music, and festivals — happening in large and small ways throughout our region. These weekends are great opportunities for families, friends, and neighbors to connect with one another and experience the arts through free events.
Saturday, April 13 at the Taft Museum of Art, people of all ages can see, hear, make, and learn about art of all sorts. All activities are free and open to the public.
11 a.m.–5 p.m.: Explore the galleries filled with masterpieces of art from many countries and many centuries as well as the special exhibition African American Art since 1950: Perspectives from the David C. Driskell Center. A variety of self-guided family tours will be available.
12–4 p.m.: Make a collage inspired by the works of art you experienced throughout the Museum.
1-1:30 p.m.: Spoken Word Poets from Elementz Hip Hop Center for Youth
1:30–2 p.m.: Take a guided tour of highlights of the special exhibition..
2-2:30 p.m.: Kre8tv Hip Hop Dance Troupe from Elementz Hip Hop Youth Arts Center
3-3:30 p.m.: Bi-Okoto Drum and Dance Theatre
